ECHOSET
West Coast Tour, Oct 2005
From Oct 10th through Oct 23rd, Echoset (Beth, Rae, Sarah, Johnny & Shawna [stylist]) was on the road traveling from Austin to perform shows in Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, Ashland, San Francisco, and Flagstaff. This was a whirlwind trip and we fortunately captured much of it on camera. What follows is a glimpse into what the experience was like.  *Thanks to Jake for the Salt Lake photos, Marcus for the Flagstaff shots, and to Shawna for the majority of the rest.

Chris is my good friend from Indiana. He put us up for the night after our show in Denver at the Hi-Dive. We met some cool bands that night. Sadly, we forgot to take pictures as we were more concerned about the fill-in bassist we had in lieu of Rae (she would join us in Portland).

Chris just started his own company and we got a peek at his new downtown office before heading out of town to Salt Lake. Tres cool.

Meet our new SLC hosts, Sarah & Jake. Some of my best friends in the world. Sean on the right was nice enough to put the gig together for us with his awesome band, Silent Sevens (Sean and I used to play in a band together in Boston).

The following shots were taken during our show at Ego's in Salt Lake. Mike filled in on bass and did an amazing job. Thank you, Mike!

We stopped briefly in Boise on our way to Portland for some coffee and a copy of the new Stones album. The turning trees were so pretty we all got some nice candid shots we might make into Christmas cards. Wait - mine looks pretty bad. Someone remind me not to make that face again.

Pit stop somewhere in very windy Oregon. Beautiful country... but, Beth, another sandwich? Ah, c'mon. Johnny and I are blue in the face from sandwich after sandwich. And it's only been a few days. Ok, you are officially the sandwich slavedriver. If we can have beer with our sandwiches we'll hush up. Promise.

Mmm... but never fear, pizza is just a hop skip and jump away.  Keep driving, cowboys!!!

We arrived in Portland and reunited with our beloved bassist, Rae, and our sassy stylist, Shawna. The following pics are from the Mississippi Pizza Pub, a very cool joint with tasty food and a full bar in the back. Thanks to former Austinite, Sunny Janes, for hooking us up with this gig. It rocked!

Ok - I wasn't kidding about the stylist. Sunday was salon day in Seattle. Shawna cut & colored until we all looked like a proper rock band. Boy was I grateful...

No one left out!

Meet Anastacia, our incredibly sweet and hospitable friend in Seattle.

Rae, you better get your drink on. We're up in 10.

The following shots are from our set at the Central Saloon in Seattle. The Seahawks game let out just as we started and so the bar filled up with lots of crazy drunkin folks. Made for an exceptional evening... as you're about to see.

The next morning Beth & I took a long walk in search of a cafe with wi-fi. We happened upon these gleeful bushes.

It took some coaxing to get Beth to unveil her more candid less rock star self. But I think I finally got it here. Loved the old trucks.

Most awesome kitty cat we all wanted to take home. The kitty was nice enough not to mark territory on any of our suitcases while we stayed at her house in Portland (Jen's house, really).

We had a second show in Portland at a very cool venue called the Tonic Lounge. We're going to be playing there again in a few weeks. Hell yeah.

Pictured from left to right: Michael Anthony, David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen.

I think that whiskey's messing with my vision... Beth?  Rae? ... Johnny?

This would be a good place to get up, stretch your legs & grab a glass of water.  (That's what I'm about to do, too). You're more than half way through the tour. Tiring, isn't it?!

Next stop: Ashland, Oregon. This college town in conveniently between Portland and San Francisco.

The sun is going, going, ..., gone.

Our night consisted of 2 sets at the Vinyl Club. We're pretty sure it's the coolest live music venue in town. They took very good care of us and as always, we had a blast.

The club owner (and former Navy Seal!), Max, was nice enough to put us up for the night. Thanks for everything, Max!  Get in the car, kids. We have a long trip to San Francisco!

Meet Courtney. She and Amy are our sweet former-Austinite San Francisco friends.

We did a little shopping before the gig. (*It should be noted that we played our first SF gig at the Cherry Bar but the camera battery died so the show was undocumented.)

We decided to glam it out for the Eagle Tavern show... over the top is sometimes the way to go.

Welcome to the Eagle Tavern. Better mind your Pints & Quarts.

Shawna flew out of San Francisco the next morning and we took off for Flagstaff.  A nice guy and amazing photographer named Marcus Sabini took the following photos at the Monte Vista in Flagstaff. We played 3 back-to-back sets that night to end the tour with quite a bang (and headache the next morning ;)  Thanks for checking out our blog.  Hope to see you at the next show...
